National Esteddfod 2009

This is the day I decided to go to the Welsh National Eisteddfod in Bala , 2nd August 2009 .This is something I have never done or even though of going as to me it would be very Boring ,But i went anyway just to say I had been to one . I left my home town of Blaenau FFestiniog and traveled the 18 miles there to Bala where upon i came to the parking are for the event . Thinking I would be stuck in a Que to get into the Main Event i was shocked as at the Main entrance was empty so i went straight to the front and payed.

The day was enjoyable and it made a change to see an Eisteddfod ,I took my Nephew Gary O'Neill with me ,we had a good laugh and the weather was dry for us.

Welshguardsreunited BBQ

It was arranged for Saturday the 25 July ,this had been in the making for some time now , I had to go to it so , I went and but my name down for it and waited for the day to come to me .The BBQ was to be held at Bonnys Farm in Marros , Pendine ,Fair deuce Bonny give his home fields for this Event ( Thank you Bonny ) this are his fields there are three ( 3 ) in not a bad location . On Friday the 24 the heavens opened up and it poured down with rain and made the fields very soft for the next day events to Bonny Land



I set off on Saturday at about 13.00 I check my route south into uncharted areas for me ( IE west wales ) and it looked very simple drive down ,WRONG, No dual carriageway and very bendy roads was up and down them gears more often than once . on past Dolgellau I came into Corris it was unbelievable it was a nice drive through there plus Passing Cadair Idris so will be taken a walk up there when the weather get better .
Now back to my story still going south towards Machyncheth I entered Powys this is really uncharted territories now as not been this far south i passed a petrol station and price there was £0.99.9 must stop here on way back to fill up ,Journey was looking good time looking good and scenery still good anyway i gone through powys and enter dyfed and got onto the main dual carriageway the the farm .
So now i turned off onto a Broad and was just out side Pendine not far to go and i saw signs saying WGR BBQ so i followed then and came to the Farm only to be greeted by this

This is how we were all greeted but the big Mud pool ,It was a good Laugh watching every body ( Well nearly ) Everybody getting stuck in there and getting towed out .As the Crowds started to gather and all the Entertainment was set up it began in full swing, and the food and Beer started to flow Nicely .

The Entertainment Was Good Also Some Blue Brothers Song during the course of the evening and still the beer flowed well and a very friendly atmosphere was to be had by all, There was some presentations been give to some members who helped out a lot. The night was Closeing to an end were there were 45 gallon drums flickering away with the fires that were light in them and Felow Welsh Guardsmen Huddled around the Fires to keep warm and chatting about the days event .
